International Women's Day 2019!

Happy International Women's Day to All from us at Maendeleo Services.

Needless to say we believe that women from all over the world should be celebrated everyday as they truly are phenomenal but let us use today as a remind of what woman are really made off. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The IWD (international Women's Day) campaign theme for 2019 is #BalanceforBetter. Aiming to achieve a gender-balanced world. - " Balance is not a women's issue, it's a business issue. The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage ...Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive."

Let us not forget the balance for different ethnicities, cultures and communities. As Jada Pinkett Smith recently stated early this month - "You know what they say: Black women can be the most disregarded and disrespected creatures on the Earth...." We believe in equality and future where all women will have an equal balance within society.

As we celebrate International Women's day, here's a few empowering quotes and videos:

"Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size. But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms. The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me."

- Maya Angelou

"I need to see my own beauty and to continue to be reminded that I am enough, that I am worthy of love without effort, that I am beautiful, that the texture of my hair and that the shape of my curves, the size of my lips, the colour of my skin, and the feelings that I have are all worthy and okay." - Tracee Ellis Ross

“You have the power to change perception, to inspire and empower, and to show people how to embrace their complications, and see the flaws, and the true beauty and strength that’s inside all of us.”

- Beyoncé

“If one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it?” - Malala Yousafzai

"I think I can inspire a lot of young women to be themselves and that is half the battle. Just be yourself, it's the easiest thing to be. Black girls, we just on another level."

- Rihanna

"Being a part of this re-emergence of a movement both pro-diversity and pro-woman is the best part of being a Black girl. It's more than, "I stand for this because I should." I stand for this because this is part of who I am as a human being."

- Yara Shahidi

"As long as you are responsible for building a healthy community, then that’s what gives you motivation and hope, and prevents you from losing hope."

- Daisy Khan

“In Pakistan when women say they want independence, people think this means we don’t want to obey our fathers, brothers or husbands. But it does not mean that. It means we want to make decisions for ourselves. We want to be free to go to school or to go to work. Nowhere is it written in the Quran that a woman should be dependent on a man. The word has not come down from the heavens to tell us that every woman should listen to a man.” -Malala Yousafzai

" There are still many causes worth sacrificing for, so much history yet to be made."

- Michelle Obama

"Black women have had to develop a larger vision of our society than perhaps any other group. They have had to understand white men, white women, and black men. And they have had to understand themselves. When black women win victories, it is a boost for virtually every segment of society."

- Angela Davis

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”

- Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

"After all those years as a woman hearing ‘not thin enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, not this enough, not that enough,’ almost overnight I woke up one morning and thought: I’m enough." - Anna Quindlen
